Tn Hj Zairulshahfuddin bin Zainal Abidin, born on October 30, 1962, in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA (1984) and holds a Diploma in Translation of Science & Technical. With 37 years of experience in international charity work, he has played key leadership roles, including CEO and Country Director of Islamic Relief Malaysia and Executive Director of MERCY Malaysia, contributing to humanitarian efforts in various crisis-affected regions.
Even after retirement, his passion for charity governance remains strong. In 2023, he joined the International Governance and Sustainability Centre (IGSC) as Panel of Experts, offering valuable insights to enhance governance practices in charitable organizations. He is also a member of professional bodies such as the Board of Engineers Malaysia, CIDB, MSOSH, and the Malaysian Material Science Society. His credentials include certifications such as ISO Guide 25 (1989), ISO 9000 Lead Quality Assessor (1993), and a Graduate Certificate in International Management from Petronas (2004, Australia).
Throughout his career, he has gained extensive experience in both corporate and nonprofit sectors. From 1992 to 2009, he held senior roles in corporate planning, supply chain, HSEQ, and engineering at PETRONAS and its subsidiaries. Prior to that, he was a Senior Research Officer at SIRIM (1985-1991). He has also contributed to various governance initiatives, including serving on the Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Tabung TYT Negeri Pulau Pinang (2018). Currently, he continues to share his expertise as an Adjunct Professor at Azman Hashim International Business School, UTM. With his vast experience in engineering, safety, and humanitarian work, he remains a dedicated figure in both corporate and nonprofit sectors.
